Head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine presented certificates for traveling to Strasbourg to the winners of the Nomination 'We Are Local Self-Government!'

Head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine, Мårten Ehnberg, attended the solemn closing ceremony of the ІХ International Children's TV Festival "Dityatko" to congratulate its participants. Addressing the audience, he thanked the participants of the international event for their initiative, activity and interesting ideas, which were conveyed in the television creations submitted for consideration by the jury under the Nomination 'We Are Local Self-Government!'.

 

"It's incredibly exciting to welcome you all here today. On behalf of the General Secretariat of the Council of Europe and myself, I wish to note that it is a great honor to be here. For the second year in a row, I celebrate with you, feel your positive and soak up the atmosphere of creativity.

Local self-government is quite a valid topic for Europe and it concerns every city inhabitant, it concerns each of us" Мårten Ehnberg said.

He also presented to the winners of the Nomination 'We Are Local Self-Government!' certificates for traveling to Strasbourg, where the headquarters of the Council of Europe is located. There pupils of three winning creative studios will be able to get acquainted with the traditions of European local self-government.

The number of competitive nominations has grown several times in the years of the festival existence. There is one special competitive nomination among the those that are offered to the festival participants, it is 'We Are Local Self-Government!'. The partner in this nomination is the Council of Europe which supports the popularization of the activity of local self-government bodies, increasing the interest of adolescents in the development of democracy and attracting youth to participate more actively in their communities.
