DYTIATKO International Children’s Television Festival was founded in 2009 by Kharkiv Regional Council. The festival turned from an interesting idea into a bright and long-awaited festive celebration of children’s creativity. During all these years studios and directors from more than 100 world countries became members of the DYTIATKO Festival.
Since the foundation of the festival, the number of competitive nominations has increased fourfold, radio and music nominations, full- and short-length films for children, special nominations of the national competition program, etc. have appeared. In 2018, the organizing committee received almost 1,300 works from 1,088 participants from 91 countries of the world. The total duration of the submitted works amounts to more than 260 hours.
DYTIATKO Festival is not only screening of the best children’s films from all over the world, it also includes a script pitching, which is a unique opportunity for children’s studios or individual young authors, future directors, to present their ideas, find partners and possibly funds for the implementation of one of their future projects.
The educational and cultural programs of the festival are expanding annually.
So far the festival has outgrown television format and therefore it needed a slight correction in its name in order to suit its goals and mission better. So, as of December 6, 2018, it became the DYTIATKO International Children’s Media Festival.
The festival remains non-profit, participation is free of charge. It is held among children’s creative television, animation and radio studios, groups, teams and individual authors, television companies and associations, producer centers, which create programs and films for children. DYTIATKO encompasses workshops, presentations and creative meetings, reviews/screenings and discussions of competitive works, creative tasks and cultural program events.
Every year the professional jury consists of specialists from different countries. The feature of the DYTIATKO Festival is the fact that children choose the winner in the category “The best television program for children”.
DYTIATKO Festival works in partnerships with international children’s film festivals and international organizations; it is supported by the Council of Europe; this festival is a member of the CIFEJ, the International Center of Films for Children and Youth.
